Oh, you eat vegan food? That’s cool… BUT where do you get your protein?
I can’t even begin to tell you how common this question is. For some reason or another, there seems to be a very big misconception regarding vegans getting enough protein on a daily basis.
I’m not exactly sure when this faulty conclusion began to really stick around… but the VegToday team wants to do our part to help resolve this misconception!
So for anyone who needs to hear it: There is no lack of protein in a vegan lifestyle…
In fact, many professional athletes, who rely heavily on protein to get through intense training, eat only vegan protein.
The key to getting enough plant-based protein is simply knowing where to find it.
Because when you’re new to a vegan diet, but you’re not consuming enough protein you’ll feel HUNGRY… ALL. THE. TIME.
When you feel hungry all the time it’s easy to go on a junk food binge or even resort to relying on meat and dairy again. And please know, it’s ok if this has happened to you. You shouldn’t be discouraged to try again if it did. Most of us grew up on meat and dairy so we weren’t thinking about plant-based sources of protein every day. It just takes a little time and patience to get used to swapping meat out for vegan options!
